Dear Izzy,
We, like many organisations, are having to look closely at training budgets and at making some cuts. How can I ensure that I deliver the right programmes and hold onto scarce budget in the current market? Fortunately, our MD is a real fan of training and personal development but I want to show that we are looking at how to be creative and deliver value.
Training has traditionally been one of the first things that gets cut in a recession, although many will argue that now is the time to retain and train the best talent. Chief executives will continue to talk about their people as their greatest asset, but the knee jerk reaction is to make cuts quickly and training may fall victim.
