Call for West Country to sign up to skills pledge

Skills Minister John Denham, is to speak at special events to be held at Exeter University and the Eden Project. He will stress the importance of improving skills in Devon and Cornwall and how doing so will lead to better jobs, more competitive businesses and better standards of living.
The two events, which have been jointly organised by Train to Gain and unionlearn, take place on 27 and 28 March and will provide an opportunity for local businesses to get together to examine how they can get the most out of investing in skills and to commit to supporting skills in their own organisations.
Other speakers include Chris Evans, Director of the South West Skills Observatory, Tony Skeel LSC Economic Development Manager for Devon, and Mark Williams LSC South West Region Skills Director. There will also be business presentations from Flybe , A & P Docks Falmouth, Plymouth City Council and Proper Cornish.
